A Bersatu member has been expelled from the party and another two have had their memberships suspended for sabotaging the Perikatan Nasional election campaign.

Bersatu secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said the three were found to have violated Article 10.2.2 of the party’s constitution.

“They violated Article 10.2.2 for instigating, boycotting and sabotaging the Perikatan election campaign.

“The supreme council has (proceeded) to sack one and suspend another two members for three years,” Hamzah said in a statement on Saturday (July 29).

He said similar punishment awaited others who contested in the state polls without the party’s permission, or become seconders for or supported rival parties, or independent candidates.

“Their membership can be revoked under Article 10.2.4 of the party’s constitution.”
