This is in line with Indonesia’s commitment to continue to provide contributions and collaboration in improving air navigation services in the Asia Pacific region.
Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia and Malaysia are evaluating flight navigation services to improve operations, airspace coordination, and technical partnerships for flight safety in accordance with the 2022 Flight Information Region (FIR) agreement.
Director of Flight Navigation at the Directorate General of Air Transportation (Ditjen Hubud) of the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation, Syamsu Rizal, said that Indonesia had successfully carried out the re-arrangement of airspace or re-alignment of the Jakarta FIR on March 21, 2024 at 20.00 UTC or March 22, 2024 at 03.00 WIB.
“Therefore, in accordance with the implementation of the 2022 FIR agreement, a follow-up Post-Implementation Review will be carried out on operational services between Indonesia and Malaysia on 4-6 December 2024 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia,” said Syamsu in a statement in Jakarta, Saturday.
He said that previously similar activities had also been carried out with Singapore this year.
Syamsu admitted that he, along with AirNav Indonesia and the Indonesian Transportation Attaché in Kuala Lumpur, attended the Post-Implementation Review Meeting with the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM).

He said, the Post-Implementation Review Meeting with Malaysia was conducted to evaluate airspace, flight paths, coordination procedures, equipment and networks, frequency usage, publication of aeronautical information in the Jakarta FIR, Kuala Lumpur FIR and Kota Kinabalu FIR.
He said that from the results of these activities, the operational flight navigation services had been running well accompanied by service improvements that would be continued with initiatives in the technical partnership platform between the two countries.
“This is in line with Indonesia’s commitment to continue to contribute and collaborate in improving flight navigation services in the Asia Pacific region,” he said.
As a follow-up to this activity, said Syamsu, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation together with Airnav Indonesia and CAAM agreed to continue the operational technical meetings in the Indonesia-Malaysia Aviation Consultative Committee (ACC Meeting) Forum.
“Including sharing operational knowledge of services between personnel of both countries,” Syamsu said again.
