Southeast Asia’s biggest tournament will open this Sunday (8/12/2024) afternoon.
The AFF Cup, now branded ASEAN Cup, is attended by the 10 best Southeast Asian countries, divided into two groups.
Group A consisting of Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Timor-Leste and Singapore will start first.
Thailand is the favorite team with its status as the king of Southeast Asia.
The War Elephant Troops have collected seven AFF Cup trophies , and are now being handled by Masatada Ishii from Japan.
The second position is expected to be contested between neighboring countries Singapore and Malaysia.
Malaysia will play their final tournament with caretaker Pau Marti before appointing a new coach.
The Spanish coach could not call up his best players because the tournament was held outside the FIFA calendar.
