To attract both local and foreign tourists, there is nothing wrong with the Ministry of Tourism learning from Malaysia.

Sarawak alone, more than 4 million tourists visited until mid-November 2024. From the influx of tourists, Malaysia’s income reached more than 10 billion Malaysian ringgit (RM), or equivalent to Rp35.5 trillion until the end of October. Wow.

Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) Executive Chairman Sharzede Datu Haji Salleh Askor said at the “The Soul of Sarawak” 2024 media night event in Kuching on Friday night (6/12/2024) that the figure exceeded the 2024 target and exceeded the level before the COVID-19 pandemic.

He said Sarawak has set a target to welcome 5 million visitors by 2025.
“To achieve this, we at STB remain steadfast in our commitment to work closely with you (the media). Together, we will explore new narratives, embrace innovative platforms and push boundaries to showcase the wonders of Sarawak to a wider audience,” he said.

He said Sarawak is a state full of diversity, culture and unparalleled natural beauty.

From tranquil rivers and lush rainforests to the rich traditions upheld by its many ethnic groups, the soul of Sarawak is its people, its heritage and its stories.

More than 200 journalists from various mass media from several countries attended the 2024 “The Soul of Sarawak” media night event. In addition to journalists from Malaysia, several journalists came from Indonesia, Brunei Darussalam, Taiwan.

The group of journalists then split into two on Saturday. One headed to Mulu to explore the Gunung Mulu National Park and the other stayed in Kuching City to explore the local cuisine, culture, history and life.
